Paul has never formally trained as an artist or sculptor but, some years ago, was suddenly overtaken by the need to create figurative pieces to explore and express body-language, relationships, tenderness, eroticism and sexuality.
Beginning with clay, he has moved on to carving stone, welding steel and bronze sheet, casting bronze and plaster and even stitched cloth.
Increasing experience of modelling the human body has given him the confidence to attempt more abstract pieces, employing more subtle clues to the underlying emotional content.
Jane taught herself most of what she knows about jewellery making, producing work in silver and gold, creating necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
She etches patterns onto silver and gold sheet, then cuts these up to make into beads. She also uses reticulation to decorate both silver and gold beads, and other less formal shaped pieces.
She finds the jewellery of ancient peoples fascinating - it inspires her designs and illuminates her originality. She uses Turquoise, Amber, Coral, Lapis Lazuli and ancient beads in her work.
